Where Can I: Serve                                                 or Get Involved?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Moraine Valley Community Church (MVCC) is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community. MVCC members are involved in a variety of ministries which you are warmly invited to participate in.  Please let us know by phone, email or in person where you feel the Spirit is leading you to serve with us.  We are absolutely grateful for you.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the mighty hand of God and He is faithful to those who follow Him.  MVCC is a body of believers deeply dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty.  The Prayer Team’s purpose and desire is to bring before our LORD the prayers of all who seek Him.  If you would like for us to pray for you, please contact us by phone, email or in the section on this website dedicated as such.  Also, we would love to have you join us for our weekly prayer meeting at 10 am every Sunday in the lower level of our church.  All are welcome!

Missions & Outreach

MVCC is honored to be part of the advancement of God’s kingdom locally and around the world. We are active in supporting missionaries with our money and with our prayers. Current missions we support: Converge MidAmerica, Community Center Foundation, Elsie’s Pantry,Widow’s Might, Living Alternatives and Bags of Hope.  We are also continually seeking additional ways to serve our community (and the world) in the image and likeness of Christ.

  • Elsie’s Food Pantry   – Elsie’s Pantry exists as an interchurch, cooperative and volunteer ministry whose mission is to meet the needs of the community with the compassion of Jesus Christ by providing quality food at no cost to those in need.  The Pantry is open every Thursday from 3-5pm (participants are able to attend every other week).  We are currently serving these communities: Hickory Hills, Justice, Orland Hills, Orland Park, Palos Heights, Palos Hills, Palos Park, Palos Township and Willow Springs.  There are additional times and days to serve the pantry – please contact for more information:
  • Beth Heinrich is Elsie’s Pantry Director and can be reached at:                  beth.heinrich62@gmail.com or 708-598-4435

Hospitality and Care Team

This team includes many vital ministries within it.  The common interest here is the operations of our Sunday Service and compassion for members who are able or unable to attend.  We are called to love the LORD and to love one another.

  • Welcome Team (Ushers)   The Welcome Team at MVCC are the first faces people see as they enter the House of God on Sunday mornings.  They are to reflect the image of God (love, compassion and hospitality) to all who have come to worship Jesus Christ.  They also identify new visitors and assist them accordingly.  They will be trained in emergency procedures, follow up with new visitors and clean up after services.
  • Care Team   The Care Team at MVCC strives to provide a ministry of hope and caring so that every member of our congregation will be reminded of God’s love through the kind acts of others.  When we embrace God, He embraces us.  The Care Team is to represent the compassion of our LORD Jesus in a fallen world.  It’s services include: visits/calls/cards to those home-bound or in the hospital, comfort and support to those who are in need and/or are suffering (such as: home maintenance, meals in times of crisis, transportation when needed).  In order to sufficiently meet these needs it is essential that we have many people willing to assist wherever they can.  Please contact our Care Team leaders for assistance or an interest in serving.

Worship Team

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. We encourage our church members to get involved in our Worship Team. Some play instruments. Some are vocalists. Some help with set-up and tear-down for our Sunday Service.  Some assist with our media and other technology.  These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of MVCC, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

Music Team   The Music Team at MVCC includes those who play instruments, vocalists and our sound engineering staff.   Musical praise and worship is a very important part of our existence at MVCC.  Humanity was created to sing of God’s glory.  We currently have: piano, acoustic guitar, bass, keyboard, and vocalists.  We are open to adding more instruments and vocalists to our team. The sound engineer position is essential to the music worship experience and therefore a very important part of this team as well.  We have our weekly practice in the Sanctuary on Sunday morning at 9:00 am.  Once a month we have a Saturday practice.  If you are interested in getting involved in our music ministry please contact our team leader listed below:
  • Media & Technology   The mission of this ministry is to capture, communicate and present God’s message through various audio/visual mediums and/or platforms with the intent of evangelizing to the unsaved and unchurched, encouraging Christians to seek an intimate and personal relationship with God, equipping the saints with the Word of God for personal and communal growth, and enhancing worship services in support of advancing the kingdom of God.  We have video setup and audio setup each service.  Also, all of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in video format.  Easy Worship Media is our visual media program which needs to be operated each service.  This ministry is essential to the smooth operation of our worship each week.  If you are interested in getting involved here, please contact our Media & Technology leader listed below:

Children & Youth

We are excited to say that both our children and youth programs are back again at MVCC!  These are both very important ministries in our church family.  These are safe places where the seeds of Christ will be planted and nurtured in love.
  • Children’s Ministry   Is to help each child discover, learn, and grow their God-given potential through Christ-like attitudes, servanthood and mentoring.  So as to nurture the children entrusted to our care, to the fullness of their God given potential, just as Jesus was nurtured into His own God designed ministry.  Teachers seek to meet the children where they are at and help them to understand and embrace the Bible.  Sunday school is at the same time as our adult service at 11:00 am.  Children can go directly to the lower level of the church – where they will find their teachers and friends.  Their will be lots of fun to be had through: lessons, crafts, singing, games, and a chance to make friends.
  • Youth Ministry   Our growing youth group is a new and exiting ministry here at MVCC!  We understand that the youth are a very important part of our church and the community and we want to provide a place just for them, to grow and hang out.  During our youth events and meetings, students (grades 6-12) will be challenged to grow in faith, encouraged to build new relationships, provided with a chance to ask their tough questions and given an opportunity to hangout and have fun!  Our youth groups hold fun events every few weeks during the summer, such as: movie nights, bowling events, and game nights.  This fun continues during the school year, with our weekly Thursday night meetings at 7:00 pm in the lower level of our church.  We will also be learning more about what it means to follow God.  We would love to have you join us for any of our events and we want to get to know how we can serve the youth of this community even better.  For a full calendar of events and meeting schedules or to stay up to date on what is happening please email Megan Bustamante (listed below) or follow us on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/mvccyouthinfo .  Also for any information regarding our Youth Group (including ways to get involved serving) please contact our Youth Director listed below:

Adult Ministry

Community fellowship is essential to the maturity of the body of Christ.  Therefore, these are areas which the adult community can get involved.  We also have a Bible Study every Thursday evening in the lower level of our church at 7 – 8:30 pm.  All are welcome to join us!
  • Rachel’s Circle and Lilac Minisrty The purpose of Rachel’s Circle is to unite all the women of our church in to a fellowship that will help each one to grow in personal devotion to Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior and in commitment to the mission of His church through worshiping, working and witnessing in the: home, community, nation and world.  We meet once a month at different members homes.  Please contact us if you are interested in getting involved.
